Darilyn Cox – always treat people with respect

The proprietor of Natradee discusses her business life and experiences

How long have you lived in the area?  All my life, nearly 60 years

Hobbies / Passions?  My family and being No.1 spectator and supporter of all their chosen sports

The hardest thing I’ve ever done was watch both my mother and brother suffer from a terminal illness

Your life/business philosophy:  Always treat people with respect and compassion - as you would like to be treated

At school:  I was only an average student and couldn’t wait to leave

I wish:  I could always be there for my family and that the younger generation will always follow the high principles I taught them

I’m good at:  Thinking of others and transferring all of that into my family and business

I’m bad at:  Accepting poor service when I am the customer

I often wonder:  What it would be like to live like a milllionaire

Describe your business … what makes it different/better:  I think customer service is incredibly important , going just that little bit further to ensure customer satisfaction

How long have you worked in the area?  Over 40 years in total including ten years with Jimani Trophies & Engraving and the last five years with Natradee Wedding Advisory & Giftware

Short term goals? What about 5 years?   I would like to have retired from active business and passed on all my accumulated experience to my family members

Your latest project is:  To improve in all areas and become No.1 in the Illawarra

What do you love about your work?  Helping our customers and satisfying all their needs

Who has been a mentor?  Any other business influences?  Special mention must go to Camtu from CleverLink who is a remarkable person and I admire what she has achieved

Has your family/partner been a help?  Yes in fact my husband and three daughters work with me

What business books do you read?  My favourite is Willie Jolley’s  A Setback is  a Set Up for aCcomeback … what a great philosophy to live by

What formal qualifications do you have?  None, but I do have 40 years real world experience in sales and customer service and I attend lots of seminars and continually strive to improve all aspects of my life and business
