Wollongong Wolves under 15s show way in Premier Youth League
After three rounds Wollongong Wolves under 15s lead their grade in soccer’s premier youth league. In round 3 the team had a 7–3 win over Apia Leichhardt Tigers to not only help their goal difference but to become the only undefeated team in the competition.
Unfortunately the 15s success could not be matched by the other Wolves last weekend. The 13s lost 3-1 to Apia and are now 8th in the competition with 1 win. The 14s lost to the Tigers by 3-1 also and are sitting in 10th spot with only a draw out of the first three rounds.
The 16s also lost to Apia 1 nil and have now dropped to 4th with 1 win and a draw in the closely fought competition. In a goal feast Apia defeated Wollongong 4-3 in the 18s. This left the 18s in 11th spot on the table with no wins in the first three rounds.
Soccer's Fernhill Youth Cup won by hosts
The Fernhill Youth Cup played over the past few weeks was decided on Saturday March 8. Played between under 21 players from various clubs the semi-final play-offs involved Port Kembla against Dandaloo and Fernhill against Cringilla.
After two closely contested semi finals Port Kembla and hosts Fernhill ultimately qualified for the final.
In the first half of the final there were plenty of missed chances but no goals. Port Kembla seemed to be slightly on top but could not beat the Fernhill defence with the last kick. It was not until 10 minutes into the second half that Fernhill's Mitchell Dawson made a break down the centre and to the local supporters' delight he did not miss the net.
Port tried to counter attack on a number of occasions but as in the first half could not capitalise. The game was put beyond Port's reach when their defence made a simple error in front of goal and their goalie had no chance to clean up before Fernhill's Greg Knight pounced to tap in his team's second goal in the 55th minute. The score remained 2 nil at the end and Fernhill took their namesake cup.

Former local features in Adelaide’s WNBL grand final triumph
Former Wollongong resident Renae Camino top scored with 32 points in Adelaide Lightning’s WNBL grand final win over the Sydney Flames last Saturday in Wollongong. She was subsequently named in the Olympic Squad.
Adelaide Lightning set up the win with a dominating first quarter. The team led by 15 points late in the first quarter, and dominated for the remainder of the match, leading to the Flames having their 6th loss in 7 trips to grand finals. The final score was Adelaide 92 to Sydney’s 82.
Retiring Adelaide captain Sam Woosnam says it was great comeback, after being held by the Flames defence in the semi-finals.
"Thank you to Sydney, you guys played great today, two weeks ago you totally blew us off the court so you've been a great team all year," she said. "Unfortunately in sport there's only one winner, but thank you you've had a great season."
Jenny Whittle may have played her last game for the Lightning, and she says it could be the perfect end to her career.
"It doesn't get much better than this and so good to do this again before my career's out, so time to party with the girls I think," she said.
Besides Renae Camino’s 32 points Erin Phillips also provided good support with 16 points for the Lightning. WNBL’s best player for the season, Natalie Porter was the best for the Flames, taking 23 points while Alicia Poto scored 18.
After the game Renae Camino was named in the Australian Opals 25 person squad for the Beijing Olympics.

Cricket Humour
Ravi Shastri vs the Aussie 12th man (don't remember who, and don't want to slander anyone)
Shastri hits it to this guy and looks for a single.
This guy gets the ball in and says, "If you leave the crease I'll break your damn head."
Shastri: "If you could bat as well as you can talk you wouldn't be the damn 12th man."
