Junior Wolves have mixed day as 15s stay on top
The Wollongong Wolves Premier Youth League Teams had a mixed day away against Macarthur Rams at Campbelltown last weekend. The Wolves came away with one win, two draws and two losses.
The Wolves 18s picked up their first win of the season with 1 nil win over the Rams. The Wolves 16s were defeated 2-1 by the Rams and now have one win and a draw from 4 rounds and are in ninth position.
The 15s had a nil all draw but with 3 wins and a draw remain on top of the ladder ahead of Marconi Stallions on goal difference.
The under 14s had a 2 all draw with the Rams and now have two draws and two losses from the four rounds. The Rams were too strong for the Wolves 13s who lost 3-1. The Wolves now have 1 win and three losses from the 4 rounds.
South Coast cleans up in combined junior cricket comps
South Coast teams took out the trophies in the combined South Coast and Illawarra junior cricket competitions last weekend. Shellharbour City were too strong for Warilla Sports in the all South Coast 16A final.
In the 16B competition Oak Flats with 171 runs easily accounted for Wests who could only manage 51. Albion Park at 8-65 just scraped home against Corrimal’s 63 in the 14A final.
Under 16A Final: Shellharbour City CC 5-107 (Ben Mitchell 40) bt Warilla Sports CC 105 (Nic Maddinson 76, Mitchell Phelps 2/9, Adam Coughlan 2/18, Tyler Ryan 4/2).
Under 16B Final: Oak Flats CC 171 ( J Chappel 3/16) bt Wests CC Blue 51.
Under 14A Final: Albion Park CC 8-65 bt Corrimal CC 63.

Under 12B Final: Gerringong CC 7-91 bt Oak Flats CC 9-90.

Balgownie snares victory from Wests in 16A Illawarra play-off
In an exciting game to decide Illawarra’s top 16A side, Balgownie batted first and were all out for 134. Wests looked to have the game under their control at 4 for 108 but then with the return of Balgownie’s opening bowlers Toussis and Lam Wests collapsed to be all out for 129.
Wests dominated in the younger grades winning the 10s, 11s and 12s while Thirroul took out the 14B competition. Results of all Illawarra final games are as follows:
Under 16A play-off for Illawarra Champion team: Balgownie 134 (P Jackson 3/14) defeated Wests 129 (A Dekleva 30, M McKenzie 31, L Veney 3/28, B Toussis 3/12)
Under 14B: Thirroul Blue 4/85 defeated Dapto Blue 80 (L Stewart 3/12)
Under 12: Wests White 4/94 (T Edwards 28) defeated Wests Blue 93 (H Hunt 3/9, P Kashyap 3/8)
Under 11: Wests Red 6/99 (H Fury 2/16) defeated Wollongong 7/98 (T Flynn-Duncombe 33, C Waldock 2/4)
Under 10 Wests Red 8/79 defeated Wests Blue 9/67

Cathy Gorman-Brown of NSW Sport and Recreation is encouraging sporting clubs and associations to apply for Woolworths Community Sport Grants.
