Free 4 –week Small Business Training Course

The next NEIS course is commencing on April 15

Do you have a good business idea? Would you like to start your own business and become self-employed?  Are you currently on a Centrelink Benefit? 

Then why not join our next NEIS program.

Let the Illawarra ITeC help you put that business idea into practice and develop the necessary skills essential for business survival in the new millennium!

Together with NEIS you can turn your idea into a reality.

What businesses are eligible?

To receive NEIS assistance, your business must be:

 New and not yet operating on a commercial basis
 Located in the area indicated in your business plan
 Able to show that there is an unsatisfied demand for the product/service you intend to supply
 Legal and reputable.

Who is eligible?

Anyone who is:

• At least 18 years of age at the time of signing the NEIS Participant Agreement
• Be receiving unemployed allowances or other forms of Centrelink income support, excluding the Age Pension and Mature Age Allowance, or else be a participant in Community Development Employment Projects (CDEP)
• Is available to participate in NEIS training and work full-time in the business
 Is not an undischarged bankrupt

NEIS provides:

 Nationally recognised and accredited training in Small Business Management
 Advice and support from a mentor for the first 12 months
 NEIS Allowance for 12 months
 Access to a network of established and successful small businesses.

What financial assistance is available?

Through NEIS you may receive:

 Income support while undertaking NEIS small business training

 NEIS Allowance equivalent to the adult single rate of Newstart Allowance for up to 52 weeks, and

 Rental assistance for a period of up to 26 weeks (if eligible)

Free Intellectual Property Seminar

Intellectual property (IP) is the general name given to the laws covering patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, circuit layouts, and plant breeder’s rights.
Intellectual property laws protect the property rights in creative and inventive endeavours and give creators and inventors certain exclusive economic rights, generally for a limited time, to deal with their creative works or inventions.
Do you have an innovative product or service?   Would you like to find out how to register a design, trademark or patent or how to commercialise your product or service?  At this FREE two-hour seminar you will hear speakers from the following organisations:

 Illawarra Innovation Advisory Service
 Local Illawarra / Southern Highlands Case Study

The seminar will cover what steps you need to take to secure your IP, who to contact and how much it will cost.  You may also like to book in for a FREE
30-minute private meeting with a patent attorney to discuss your innovation further.  

Seminars are being run in Wollongong, Nowra and Mittagong.

Time:   9.00am to 11.00am seminar with light lunch then bookings being taken for 30-minute individual meetings with patent attorney
