People or profit
Jim Eddy calls for a super council to replace Wollongong and Shellharbour people’s councils.
Jim Eddy is going to have to understand, one day, or most likely never, that councils are there for the residents, the ratepayers and not just for tourism or even business. Councils are also not the personal plaything of tourism and business.
An amalgamation takes away the voice of people. The Bulli Council was lost in 1947. Having a super council to help tourism and business is not what I pay my exorbitant rates for.
If Mr Eddy can show how the people in Shellharbour would be interested about what is happening in the Helensburgh district, please do so.
The Illawarra is for the people, not personal edification. Mr Eddy should just stick to his own business and leave the Illawarra to the people, not to the profit margin and dummy spits.
Alan Bond Credibility blown away
Despite plenty of people opposing the gun shop, once again I seem to be the one target to write letters about in the Mercury for people who appear to love guns.
Must be because I am not a protesting mother with children. Sam Walker says basically I am ill informed. What part of no gun shop at all does he not understand?
The majority of people can live without guns as they don't want to use them or need them. It is better to kill the virus than cure the disease.
Whereas Shaun Prince's credibility has certainly been blown off target with his impact statement comparing kids playing Playstation, blowing villains away with a gun shop where people buy guns that fire actual bullets despite what they get fired at.
Perhaps next he'll compare it with innocent Wily E. Coyote being the target of the villainous Road Runner.
Shaun Prince wanted to run for Wollongong Council at one stage. He was also on former Mayor Darling’s election team. He has also has written letters defending former general manager of Wollongong Council, Rod Oxley, but not lately.
His credibility does certainly not have the greatest impact.
