More on the unmentionable …
Immodium is an over the counter medicine for the unmentionable, often seen on TV, and recommended when having radio therapy to that area.
And another supplement usually recommended after surgery and radio therapy to the stomach/bowel/gynoclogical area which causes bowel problems is a granule which bulks up the stool [probably by absorbing the excess moisture?].
I have to go!!!
Fergie
AC: Actually know about Immodium from personal experience travelling overseas. This time I was convinced to use a generic at half the price. I don’t think it was a very good stop gap, if you know what I mean! Trust me – too much information - anyway I’m finally over it now!
NRL can only blame themselves
Andrew - I haven't always agreed with John Bown- but on the NRL he is absolutely spot on here!!!
How hypocritical to criticise players for heading o/s - loyalty is a 2-way
street - where was the Knights' loyalty to longstanding player Kurt Reynoldson when he was nearing the point when he was set for a bonus payment for the number of games played for them ?? They let him go.... no payment needed.
That action of the Knights has to send a message to so many NRL players - as ye sow - so shall ye reap - to quote a biblical expression.
PS: I've never met Kurt Reynoldson and don't expect ever to do so ... but it
would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge him as being a very very distant cousin of my late father's ...
When you look at it the NRL must take most of the blame for its players
wanting to go overseas and play the game, or to accept lucrative offers to play union in Europe.
All that open transfer that was available earlier in the season should not
have been allowed, and it has obviously sunk in that if you already have a contract with an NRL club it seems to matter for nothing.

GUEST SPEAKER?
19 July 2008
It is good that the Mercury has now clarified and confirmed Rod Oxley’s position on the Table of Knowledge by saying he was not a regular, but only attended occasionally.
Though is there a difference? One now can legally ask, why did he attend at all? As a Guest Speaker?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MERCURY ONLINE ARTICLE?
19 July, 2008
Despite a media release from Wollongong City Council into the investigation of Frank Vellar's mansions at Corrimal, all mention of this from the Mercury on line has disappeared. That's a news story within itself.
I wondered why my legitimate comments didn't appear. Surely the Mercury is not quaking in it's boots, especially after a good investigative story.
NEIGHBOURHOOD FORUMS
20 July 2008
Wollongong City Council are to be congratulated on their realisation that community consultation requires the resurrection of the old Neighbourhood Committees under the new monicker of Neighbourhood Forums with Council involvement. It’s good to see them at the top of the list and not begrudgingly added as last on the bottom as the former council had.
Now with stricter controls. Obviously in the event that they are taken over by self interested groups from pro-development to antidevelopment to put it broadly.
The suggestion of a biannual meeting with the leaders of Neighbourhood Forums with the administrators is also to be applauded. Though it wouldn’t have hurt to have it more often.
Still though this conduit into the ratepayers community will allow the questions that must be asked by ratepayers whenever concerns, which are mainly inappropriate development proposals and threats against our unique environment arise.
A HOLE IN ONE FOR OBJECTORS
20 July 2008
Wollongong City Council are to be congratulated on their continuing opposition to the Golf Resort on Maddens Plains.
Council’s meeting minutes show the highly questionable factor of the 400 living accommodation being justified with only a 9 hole golf course to warrant the application as a Golf Resort.
The isolation. The fitting in with the rest of the community considering the nearest town centre of Helensburgh is 8 kilometres away, are amongst the logical concerns.
Including Council’s concern on the sensitive environment, particularly the new classifications under the new LEP 2009 that would cover this site.
They even question why anyone would to build this there. Even the electricity supply would not accommodate this proposal.
Sometimes Council do get it right. So do the objectors, those who want to see this Kakadu of News South Wales, left untouched in this world of Climate Change.
We can not lose our number one natural scenic wonder to greed.
PHOENIX RISING FROM THE ASHES
24 July 2008
How can we complain about this? Recent Council Media Releases. First of all there is the Community Consultation Discussion Paper going on public exhibit.
First cab off the rank is the Neighbourhood Forums as I mentioned in a previous letter, though now we certainly need three as there were before in the extremely large Ward 1. Same as the previous Neighbourhood Committees but with a tougher view on conduct etc.
Second, Council has initiated a relationship with another Council, Carrathool Shire in the state’s north. Now this has to be more profitable in keeping the Australian ties with local sporting groups, schools, business, the arts and cultural sector which our Council wants. It has got to be better than sister city relationships with overseas countries which were not really that much of a benefit to ratepayers except for the ex-ALP councillors, who were at least out of the country, depending on your point of view.
Lastly we have the new tough Code of Conduct to remove the rottenness and stench that prevailed throughout Council in over 20 years in the wilderness, not just the last Quattro years, which means 4. The revised Code includes all conduct breaches by staff and delegates to be reported to the General Manager, Conduct Review Committee members to be independent of Council, and all Code of Conduct complaints to be reported to Council annually.
Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes, so will Wollongong City Council.
THE MISSING LINK
24 July 2008
I am pleased the Mercury has clarified the difference between Quattro Employment Services and the Quattro proposal. That there is no connection, as those involved have said, between these two entities.
As we all know Quattro is a very commonly everyday used word since it means four, like something with four legs. Look there goes a quattro; I trod on a quattro this morning, watch out there’s a quattro under that rock, etc. A very commonly used word indeed. In this case we have four heads which is better than one.
Now it is absolutely clarified by the Mercury that the Quattro Employment Services which coincidentally had four members of the former Council, with one having a consulting firm, were going to employ overseas skilled labour. It’s a real pity that this never happened because it would have been good publicity and a real public relations exercise to have actually had these imported skilled labours coincidentally work on the Quattro proposal.
Now I’m sure that the principals involved never even thought of that. It’s a pity because this what we all could have called the missing link for businesses who network in this modern day. Especially in the Illawarra.
IT'S NOT UNIQUE
So the Vellar Mansions should be demolished. Good on the administrators for taking the step closer. I don't think too many of the public remember the Vellar family put some 70ha of land into ownership, if the public certainly didn't know about the mansions! But Council sure did. Who was it in Council who had the delegated authority?
So it's some error by the consultants, eh? Same consultants thought it was a good idea to have a 3 storey building, basement parking, and two levels above, in Helensburgh but they somehow call it 2 storeys. The error there was that they spoke at a Community Meeting, took all suggestions on board, and promptly went on a holiday so were unable to do anything about the suggestions! Now they are back trying to do the same thing with the old Helensburgh Workers Club. Little shoe boxes. Thanks a lot. At least it’s interesting to know all the players who get mentioned, with no surprise.
It's also interesting to note about the 7b conservation zone deal struck.... this was suppose to be the same sort of zone for the former Garden of Peace/Mineral Pool in Stanwell Tops, which somehow slipped off the Council's radar much to the then local councillors surprise, but that's another interesting story.
And, sorry administrators, it's not unique.
MORE QUESTIONS TO BE ASKED
25 July 2008
Having now read Frank Gigliotti’s edited stat dec there are certainly some questions to ask.
Why did he have to wait till January 2008 to speak to ICAC, and then only after a call from ICAC to his solicitor for him to call them?
Why did he wait for this to tell them what he supposedly knew from first hand knowledge, especially after he appeared to be so concerned?
If, as it appears, as he says, he had never associated with Frank Vellar, did not have any personal meetings with him, never called him, what circumstances did he know about Frank Vellar that made him not like him?
Indeed, how did he know it was Frank Vellar when he walked into Noreen Hay’s office? Recognise him from a photograph? Because from his statement, he never said Noreen Hay introduced them. But he knew who he was. Unless that’s in the edited part.
Most importantly, he could have asked Frank Vellar to leave. Why did he not? Or excuse himself, especially since it became, as he said, very clear as to why Noreen Hay asked him to “pop in” and he became uncomfortable?
Yes, there are still a lot questions to be asked. Above are some of them.
A SIGN OF THE TIMES
24 July 2008
So now we have the Book of I Forget for Developers, next to the Politicians Book of I Forget Period, or the consultants Book of Errors, all available at the Library of Cereal Box Licences.
So a developer was hauled over the coals for recklessness, as the Wollongong City Council says, for building work on a heritage listed building without the proper consents.
It must be pointed out here the difference between restoration and renovations.
Restoration is carried out on Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel ceiling painting. Renovation is replacing a two year old crumbling brick with a new one, this put simple for developers to understand.
As for the developer who was hauled over the coals, tut, tut.
It’s just as well developers have a direct line into Council, oops, a sign of the times says use front door.
THE BOOK OF WHAT TO SAY IF YOU GET CAUGHT
25 July 2008
Naturally, in regards to the Hay controversy, everyone is innocent. That’s why as soon as this meeting happened and were not tempted by anything, that the concerned parties involved, made these overtures known to the relevant authorities as is their duty.
If they weren’t listened to then, of course they went to the media, long before any ICAC Inquiry. I must’ve missed the media reports somehow.
Is it anything like a bank robber being caught and pointing to the getaway driver as being the person the cops should be really after? Is any signed paper as good as the one that Hitler signed to say there would be peace in our time?
I’m going to have to read that Book of What To Say If You Get Caught in the Cereal Box Library of Licences.
