The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Gulf region are undergoing significant transformation, offering a range of opportunities for Australian companies. 
 
The UAE is Australia's second-largest market in the Gulf with a sound economy, a fast-growing and youthful population, low barriers to entry, excellent infrastructure, and a sophisticated business community familiar with Western practices. Australia's profile in the UAE is high. There is increasing recognition of Australian companies and capabilities.  Business in the neighbouring Gulf region is also booming. Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar are all carrying out reforms to encourage private sector growth and diversify their economies.

About the Presenter:
 
Tom Ellicott is an Accredited Specialist in Business Law and he is a Director of Access Business Lawyers. Tom leads the Commercial Law Practice Group at Access and with his team he is involved in providing services to SME's and a number of public companies in respect of acquisitions, the establishment of supply agreements and trading terms, employment law, service agreements, compliance and, occupational health and safety.
 
Tom's team also provides advice in respect of intellectual property rights including the preparation of licence agreements and other complex commercial arrangements including the establishment of partnerships, joint ventures and other business structures.
 
Tom is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and the Safety Institute of Australia. He is heavily involved as an honorary solicitor with local charities and sporting organisations.
 
Tom grew up at Thirroul and he still lives there. He is married with two young energetic children who know a lot more about computers than he does.
