Seeing Stars
by Patricia Shepherd

For the week beginning 20 October

The Astrological Neptune

LIBRA

Good time to be looking at those long range plans and goals as you are feeling positive and optimistic. Don’t forget though, when looking at the bigger picture, to look at what is right under your nose.

SCORPIO

You are wanting to get to the bottom of things because until you do a cloud hovers over your head. So clear up any confusion that remains from a situation, leave no stone unturned. Be thorough.

SAGITTARIUS

Been on a bit of a high over the last day or so but now it is time to come back to earth. Put that confidence to good use and get a handle on those practical matters and concerns that are piling up.

CAPRICORN

Others seem to be thwarting you at every turn, and for someone who likes a bit of stability in your daily life chaos has been reigning for some time. Perhaps this is what is needed to get you moving.

AQUARIUS

Your intuition is strong and if you happen to listen to it may help you out of a tight spot or of course if you had listened to it in the first place you would not find yourself in the predicament you are in.

PISCES

The movement of Venus into your solar tenth house for the next month tends to create favourable circumstances not only in your business life but also can see you socialising with women of influence.

ARIES

Your partner can need a bit of a reality check this week as plans they make seem to take on Ben Hur type proportions. Whilst you don’t want to dampen their enthusiasm a bit of realism is required.

TAURUS

Venus moved into Sagittarius and from your solar seventh house to the eighth and whilst your relationship has lost some of its intensity you are now more open to recognising and learning about each other’s differences.

GEMINI

When Mercury links up with Jupiter you can generally expect big ideas and plans to surface. This is a great time to widen your area of knowledge or exploration as long as you don’t go over the top.

CANCER

Feeling a bit restless and unsure where family commitments seem to tie you down. Leave the guilt at home and give yourself a break, you will come back refreshed and rejuvenated. Everyone benefits.

LEO

The Sun moves into Scorpio on Friday so you can expect your focus to shift to family and home. This is the time of the year where you look forward to being in familiar surroundings.

VIRGO

With Mercury now going direct things move forward in your life and after taking a close scrutiny of your financial affairs now have a better understanding and are in a better position to move forward.

THE ASTROLOGICAL NEPTUNE

The second of the generational planets, Neptune’s discovery in 1846 coincided with the coined term ‘hypnosis’ (from Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep) given by the Scottish physician James Braid. It has played a part in healing under other names down through the centuries, and we only have to look at the rituals of African, Polynesian and American tribes to see it working. But it was Sigmund Freud (1856 – 1939) father of psychoanalysis, who in 1888 first began using hypnosis to produce repressed memories and emotional release in his patients. Anesthesia  – the ability to put people to sleep, was first used as ether in an operation by an American Dr Crawford Williamson Long in 1842.

Coincidence only you may think but it is these generational planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto that are astrologically accredited with producing physiological development and having social consciousness raising influences.

Neptune represents that part of us which yearns in the heart of our being, to dissolve those boundaries and divisions that prevent us experiencing our essential oneness with the rest of life. In order to do this we have, to some degree, to let go of our ego – our separate self-sense.

Along with Venus, Neptune signifies artistic creativity but whereas Venus can be said to be the craftsperson, Neptune is the inspiration.

In a horoscope Neptune represents spirituality, understanding, visions, insight, sympathy, self-sacrifice, dreams and psychic ability, to name a few. On the negative side it is escapism, delusion, illusion, addiction, deception, victimisation, hallucination and paranoia.

The task of mastering Neptunian energy is perhaps the most difficult but if we cut ourselves off from Neptune we cut ourselves off from life.
