A vision and mission come true

Talk to Sonia D’antoni and Linda Sabato and they will tell you that Sassy & Chic Hair Beauty & Design came about because of a vision and a mission

Both born in Wollongong and related to one another they went into different paths on leaving school until they got together and decided to provide a unique service to the Illawarra region at highly competitive prices.

Linda, who attended Berkeley High School before studying bookkeeping and office management at TAFE, worked for some time with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Greenacres Association. It was during her time with Hair Locs Australia  that Sonia realised the potential for providing a quality hair extension service to Wollongong.

Sonia attended Warilla High School and went to Griffith University where she  studied comparative design before working for Hair Locs Australia on the Gold Coast for the past four years.

(Editor’s Note: No, locs is not a spelling mistake but is a name commonly used in their industry.)

Sassy & Chic Hair Beauty & Design, she says, uses the safer and affordable loc system without using harsh chemicals which can ravage hair.

Sonia and Linda say their “easy in, easy out” loc method uses copper micro rings to clamp or attach the hair extension strands to the client’s own hair, and definitely no glue or harsh chemicals are involved in the process.

“We have found that our customers have been opting for a cheaper alternative believing there are no other options in the quality of hair used other than what the hair dresser provides. We also offer a unique pay by the hour hair extension maintenance service so gone are days of job lots,” Sonia says.

Many people have also been travelling as far as Queensland and Sydney for service like that provided to various celebrities and models but at Sassy & Chic, Linda says, they offer the same truly professional service which can include personalised colour match and strand by strand application and maintenance at lower prices.

Linda says that their clients are able to make an informed choice which rivals anything offered further afield.

Sonia points out that in most salons hair extensions are offered in job lots consisting of 80 to 100 strands, which makes it quite expensive but at

Sassy & Chic you choose whether you want a little or a lot with prices starting from as little as $5.40 per strand.

From as far back as Cleopatra

The partners say that hair extensions dates back as far as the legendary Cleopatra, and well known movie stars Sophia Loren and Bridget Bardot were fans of the process.

Sonia says they source the best in 100 per cent remy human hair which offers a choice of Chinese, Indian-European and Russian hair at only a fraction of the cost normally paid elsewhere.

The partners also suggest their vision and mission includes educating the locals and offering more choice, as well as an affordable and professional service in hair beauty and design.

“You will feel like a celebrity when you get your own personal stylist in the comfort of your home by taking advantage of our mobile service or alternatively you can come to a salon for the pampering experience we offer,” Linda says.

Consultations are necessary to help determine the quality of hair and perfect colour match for you and they are free.
