Pretty bold opening I know. My parents recently did a course with Don Tolman who is an amazing man specialising in health and wellbeing. He lectures all over the world and has some wonderful principles on health, nutrition and exercise. In this article I’d like to share a few of his wisdoms and a few things that have certainly opened my eyes to the medical profession.
Please don’t get defensive about your own views. These are just Don’s opinions and I found them thought provoking enough to want to share them with you. Some won’t work for you, others may be completely life changing. The information here is like everything else in life, read it with an open mind and take what you find useful and leave the rest.
• Health care is a $1.6 trillion dollar industry. If anyone tells you it’s not about the money, think again!
• Two million people per year are killed due to the medical profession. That’s a lot of people dying unnecessarily!
• Pro tobacco companies have over 500,000 pages of ‘scientific proof’ saying that it’s not only safe to smoke, but smoking can actually lead to greater health and enhanced lung capacity. Next time you see something with ‘scientific proof’ take a step back and figure out who’s making the money. The long and the short of it is that money buys ‘scientific proof!’
• The national average in America is 35 prescription drugs per household. Surely we’re not that sick!
• There are more prescription drugs being consumed than ever before, yet we have higher levels of sickness and illness than ever before. Doesn’t make sense to me.
• It is estimated that only10 per cent of the 473,000 open heart surgeries were actually necessary.
• The human body is the best pharmacist that you will ever find. When working effectively, it can produce any healing chemical it requires in order to begin rectifying any physical situation.
• We over-estimate the importance of getting the right levels of minerals and vitamins and underestimate the importance of a fresh and balanced diet.
• Whole foods provide everything that our bodies require.
• If food comes in a packet, then it’s processed and will have less nutritional value than a whole food substitute.
• The remedy for optimal health is fresh air, clean water, sunshine (yes, that’s actual sunlight, not from a tanning salon) a walk/ regular exercise, being kind and creative and passionate about life, and eating plenty of whole foods. It sounds easy so how come we don’t do it? Try it for a week or two and see what happens.
• 99 per cent of modern medicine can only treat symptoms, that is, they aren’t identifying the cause and rectifying it, so it will continue, and they will continue to sell medicines (and make money.)
• Our symptoms are actually our body’s way of trying to make things right. For example, if a patient has vomiting as a symptom, this is the body’s way of expelling something that was toxic in the body. By taking anti-vomiting tablets, we change the natural ability that our body had to deal with this toxin and force it to find a new way. An unnatural way.
Please don’t take my word on any of this. If you’re interested, and I sure hope you are, please visit Don’s website at:
