Out of touch
David Winterbottom is out of touch when he calls for an extension to the 3-month exhibition period of the Draft Wollongong LEP 2009 which ends on March 13. (See Mercury Feb 28)
Any further extension period is only giving time to those certain developers who trying to get things done under the old LEP which would not be permitted under the new.
Certain people in the north are frantically carrying out changes to their properties without any DA submissions or approvals as they know they will not be able to do it once the new LEP comes in. A further exhibition time will give them ample chance to succeed because Council will not order them to pull down what they have built. The developers’ usual excuses are that what they have built was on an existing footprint. Funny that no one can ever remember buildings being there before, even in the last 30 years.
Mr Winterbottom also seems to be out of touch with the new Neighbourhood Forums. Helensburgh has already had its first one in February, with the next in March before the closure of the Draft LEP exhibition.
Alan Bond Still waiting for the flood to come to sweep the guilty away
In reference to the After the Storm article. (Mercury 28 Feb)
Though there are those who believe that someone did a good job in encouraging development. Only trouble was, it was not the way we like to see development done.
I find the key players and what they are doing now made no mention of sleepless nights. I love the one who is going to sue ICAC. I think that’s great!
I’m sure it will set a precedent for all those caught out doing something wrong but thought it didn’t apply to them.
I look forward to ICAC issuing an apology to that person in finding that all the proven corruption the person was involved in was the only way things could be done. That the rules for doing things the correct way are hopelessly wrong because you have to have facts and financial records.
I’m sure the vindication will prove that God is never wrong.
