With regard to the Great Wall of Ambience article, (Mercury 26) this is becoming typical in the Illawarra

In Helensburgh there are 3 lots of supposed 2-storey buildings. Actually 3 storeys if you count the basement parking that comes out onto Club Lane behind, something that Council does not count as a storey.

These blocks have a courtyard in the middle, the only trouble is how does fire emergency get in there? There is only about 16cms between the blocks!!

At a community meeting a high profile developer and an even higher profile consultant said they would be shops with residences above. But no there isn't.
Now they home units with a media room! A place where you keep your computer. Isn't that a good one?

The units are built right to the edge of the footpath with just a small wall right at the edge. They have taken a slice of Sutherland's highrise and transplanted it into the middle of Helensburgh.
