The environment and the place we love to live!
Colin Levy is right, he is completely wrong about my letter in the Mercury re Graeme Jackson and his support for the Vellar subdivision at Corrimal. (Mercury 7) The letter I referred to appeared in the media. A fact edited out of the published letter. I never said it was in the Mercury. That’s what my letter was about, the Vellar subdivision and nothing to do with the Greens or June Pronk or his imagination.
I wish to point out here that I am not associated with any of these groups or any group carrying on about getting councillors elected or corruption still within Wollongong City Council.
I don’t live at Bald Hill, another wrong guess on Mr Levy’s part. I live in Stanwell Tops and there’s nothing exclusive about that and no, I do not have a view of the ocean. It was the cheapest place I could find for a then family. Only $225,000. Try and get a place for that now. But 19 years later I’m still trying to pay it off. In that, I’m not exclusive.
Mr Jackson has definitely worked hard for rural landowners. He should be pleased that the West Dapto release is only one third of the initial area, thus protecting all those rural lands from being developed, particularly since he was on the committee for the Illawarra Escarpment Management Plan.
Council’s decision for the rest being deferred is wisely based on suitable demand, but hopefully not by landowners.
As for the knock back of the Vellar subdivision, one small step for man, one giant leap for the Illawarra Escarpment, the environment and the place we love to live!
Well, at least some of us do.
