Small Business

Small Business September 2009

This year marks the 10th anniversary of SMALL BUSINESS MONTH. This annual celebration highlights the important role of small business to the social and economic fabric of the state, and has become one of the biggest events on the small-to-medium business calendar.

The Illawarra/South Coast region will be host to an array of events to help you develop your ideas, strengthen your market presence, and increase your business opportunities. Most events are free, and all events will help your business soar in these tough times.

The Small Business website is where you can find and register for an event that suits your needs. Simply go to www.smallbusinessmonth.nsw.gov.au

And, to launch Small Business Month off in the Illawarra  -

Protecting your brand

If you are already in business, or looking to start your own enterprise in the near future, then it is vital that you consider how to identify and protect one of your key business assets - your intellectual property (IP).

Protecting your product design as well as the establishment of a well recognised brand can be achieved through the use of appropriate intellectual property rights (IP) which can in turn lead to an increased awareness of your products or services in the public domain leading to the increased growth of your business.

At the next meeting of the Wollongong Small Business Club you will hear information from IP specialist William Hird from Davies Collinson Cave on the various forms of intellectual property rights that are available for Australian businesses and how they can best be used to protect and establish your brand.

Time  :   5.15pm to 7.30pm
Date   :  Tuesday 1st September 2009
Cost   :  FREE to attend – catering provided
RSVP:   Ring Lee at RDA Illawarra on 4227 4500
