Defence, Green Jobs and Steel at i3net

The Illawarra Innovative Industry Network in conjunction with Industry and Investment NSW invite you to the next Industry Breakfast Meeting at Illawarra Yacht Club at 1 Northcliffe Drive Warrawong on Monday September 20 beginning at 8am.

The three presenters include: Illawarra
Ben White, Manager, Australian Business Defence Industry Unit. Ben has broad experience in the Defence, Government and business sectors. Discussions will include the NSW Government five year Defence Industry Plan and the relevance to the Illawarra.

Katrina Skellern, Project Manager, Green Jobs Illawarra. Katrina has 15 years corporate, local and state government experience in the economic, sustainable and community development sectors. She has project managed a large range of business and community sustainability, health and infrastructure development projects and strategic planning studies.

David Leavesley, General Manager for Australian Steel Mill Services and Ecocem at the BlueScope site. These companies convert slag, a co-product, from BlueScope Steels’ Blast Furnace and Steel operations into useable products in the concrete, road-making and civil industries. The product derived from the Ecocem business is a cement substitute; effectively a low CO2 version of normal Portland cement with similar properties.

Help your local community with seniors’ health issues

Are you over 50 years old?
The Health Promotion Service for older people would like to train you to be a volunteer educator to conduct informative health related discussions to groups of seniors in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven areas.
The 3 day training will provide you with information about the role of a peer educator, group presentation skills and an introduction to health related topics. The program is run in many community languages, so if you speak English or other languages, we want you!
