This exhibition which is part of the Wollongong Science Centre and Planetarium will create an awareness of the nature and importance of machines – the key element which makes possible the activities of industry.  Career opportunities in Engineering form an important part of the exhibition.
The exhibition which has as its principal sponsor, Illawarra Coal, as well as significant exhibit input from BlueScope Steel engineering cadets includes:

a. The Wheel (a huge tyre supplied by Bridgestone Earthmover Tyres) – positioned outside the Science Centre as per the photograph.

b. Levers – an interactive with levers of various lengths

c. Inertia – an interactive showing the inertial behaviour of wheels of  equal mass but different geometry

d. Mechanical Advantage – an interactive which allows visitors to lift a huge mass reasonably effortlessly

e. Million to One  - an interactive showing the effect of gears in reducing speed

f. 5 person See Saw

g. Transparent car differential - superbly finished interactive built by the degree cadets at BlueScope Steel.
