Making goals work for you

It’s time to actually do it now

Let’s be honest for a moment, have you really written down your goals, in the proper ‘goal setting’ format, read them each day, infused them with emotion and tracked your progress towards them? If the answer is yes, well done, you’re one of the few high achievers in society and I’m sure your results speak for themselves!

If not, grab a pen and a fresh piece of paper, perhaps a cuppa and get ready for action! It’s time to actually do it now rather than regretting not doing it later!

Step 1. Dream big, take 10 minutes to write down everything that enters your mind that you think you’d like in your life in the future. It may be things you wish to achieve, a relationship you wish to develop, a career or business orientated goal, travel ambitions, or a new house, car, boat, anything at all. The point is, if you can dream it you can create it, and this is just the first step, so get excited.

Step 2. Review all those things on your list and start looking at prioritising them and adding realistic time frames to them. There may be some that are simply fantasy, or some that you aren’t prepared to work towards right now. By all means keep the list, but make sure the goals that really mean something to you are the ones you’re working on.

Step 3. Time to look at the goals individually and work them out so they fit into the following format.

This is how to write out your goals:

It is now (insert date at which you will have achieved the goal) and I am/ have (describe in detail where you are, what you have achieved, and what has happened to let you know that you have reached this goal).

The steps that I need to take in order to reach this goal are: (in no particular order list the steps)

Step 4. Take the action steps you’ve listed and tell everyone you know (who will support you) about your goal, this creates accountability. A wonderful motivator!

Step 5. Each day read over your goals. In your mind picture yourself having achieved this goal and feel the happiness and emotions that go with the accomplishment. Remember, taking action is critical, and really makes things happen. Each day take some time to enjoy the experience of going over your goals; your unconscious mind can’t differ between reality and imagination, so let’s teach it what to start looking for! It will really propel you to work through that action list!

Good luck with all your goals and if you have any challenges along the way, or would simply like a helping hand, please give me a call on 0409 224 303 and we can work through it together.
