A moment in time

We all need to get off the merry-go-round of life every now and then!

How often are you able to truly stop the world, get off the merry go round, and simply enjoy a moment in time? This week I had such a wonderful moment in time that I want to share all of it with you. How it came about, the actual experience, and when I went back to the real world.

Every now and then we hit a frantic week; often I have things on in the evenings, generally either networking, workshops or client appointments, which makes time with my husband a precious commodity. This week having started work early one morning, I realised I had a three-hour gap in my day before my evening ‘activities’ started. We grabbed our little puppy, Tali, who is now a four-month old little terror, and headed down to Shellharbour Beach. They have a wonderful off leash area that’s great for dogs to socialise and learn their doggie communication skills.

So off we went. Any trip in the car with Tali is a laugh. She constantly tries to stick her nose out the window and when unsuccessful she sniffs wildly at the air like a maniac, trying to get a whiff of all the smells life has on offer! As we got to the beach we saw a bunch of other dogs, already loving their play time and chasing each other all over the place. After Tali got her fill of puppy play, we walked around the rocks and started looking into the beautiful rock pools. Sean, my husband, spotted a beautiful rainbow coloured fish, so brightly coloured that we both stopped instantly in our tracks to watch it.

As this gorgeous, rainbow coloured fish swam about in this little rock pool we noticed a tentacle reach out and feel about. I was so excited, I think I actually let out a little pansy girl squeal of delight as I realised it was a beautiful octopus just under the ledge we were watching from. Sean and I both laid down on the edge of the rock pool and just gazed at this marvel of creation, both completely spell bound by the wonder of nature and captivated by the goings on in a tiny rock pool in Shellharbour.

As we watched, the octopus ventured further out into the pool and we saw more rainbow coloured fish and noticed how everything worked so perfectly. We laughed and thoroughly enjoyed the moment, we even fed the octopus some dog treats (which it really enjoyed) and had one of those beautiful moments in life where the rest of the world seems to simply disappear!

I came back to the real world when a very wet and very sandy Tali climbed over my back to get a better look at the attraction. It was then that I realised how truly wonderful the moment was and how long we’d be lying there looking at this wonderful creature.

We all need to get off the merry-go-round of life every now and then! Life gets busy, and full and sometimes completely crazy. How long has it been since you truly enjoyed a moment in time and stopped to breathe it all in?

Take some time this week to capture such a moment, it might be noticing the way a rain drop runs down a beautiful fern frond, or the way your child giggles at something in a shop window. Allow yourself the time and space to truly enjoy such joys life has on offer – otherwise we’ll be 80 before we know it and regretting how we worked our life away!

Enjoy life! That’s it for this week –

Simply, ENJOY LIFE!
