Your Lifestyle

Open your heart

It’s time to let your soul breathe

On the long weekend we had booked into a hotel at Jindabyne for the opening weekend of the snow season, unfortunately due to the dire lack of snow on Thursday, the hotel phoned and offered to hold our booking until it snowed. (They also mentioned everyone else that had booked in for the weekend had cancelled.) So, needing a break, we booked in to a nice apartment on Mollymook beach, which was just lovely!

A few times over the weekend I went walking by myself and just sat and experienced life. Often when I sit quietly in nature and just listen and absorb what life has on offer I can feel my heart expanding. I’m going to try to explain it because it’s a beautiful feeling and something I’d really like to share with you today.

As you sit, relaxed and begin to truly appreciate all the things around you, open yourself up to all the details of life around, notice how you begin to forget about you. When I become me and take time out in nature, I actually forget all about me, and I begin to really focus on the rest of the world, the beautiful sky, the little boy playing with his dog, the seagulls flying by. It may sound like a romantic setting, but anywhere in the world you can look outside and gain the same fullness once you open your heart to it.

As I relax into it, I can feel my heart start to shift and expand, it’s almost like there isn’t enough room in my heart for all the love, all the joy, all the emotions that the universe has just thrown at me. Imagine that when you truly open your heart, you enable yourself to experience everyone else’s emotions, and you can actually feel within yourself everything that everyone else is feeling simultaneously. You have the gratitude of life combined with the sadness of death, the joy of love and the desolation of a broken heart all blended in together. Your heart feels so big with all the fullness it has inside it.

It’s an amazing feeling and I hope that in the next week you can take a little time out to focus on life and start to open your heart, when you feel something massive shift inside you then you will know it’s done! Once you’ve experienced an open heart, you’ll never go back!

“The heart feels things the eyes cannot see, and knows what the mind cannot understand!”
- Robert Velett
