It all began with Jack

A fascination with “Jack” which started some 20 years ago has led to Paula Burns developing her own business, one which still sees “Jack” as a key element to its future growth

“Jack” just happens to be Jack Daniel’s, the long popular bourbon, and Paula’s fascination with the collection of items available in support of the drink has grown in time.

It began with her collecting Jack Daniel’s tins and glasses and her current business, All Occasions Giftware, had its start promoting a “Jack” towel on eBay.

Raised and educated at Berkeley, Paula tried a number of jobs when she left school, including clothing and jewellery. Then, when her first child arrived on the scene, the family moved to Farmborough Heights. Paula has two children, both girls aged 21 and 17.

With numerous years involved in and out of the party plan business, from selling toys to lingerie, Paula eventually turned to working in retail. But always at the back of her mind, she says, was the dream to have her own business selling promotional products.

She found a suitable supplier for the goods she was looking for and after laughing and joking with a friend one evening she finally decided to “go for it”.

Paula began a party plan business selling licensed merchandise such as Jack Daniel’s, Holden and The Simpsons and the like, and some of the products she has available include pool cues, glasses, bar mats, lunchboxes and hip flasks.

Now a reality

With help from her family and friends and a lot of perseverance her business is now a reality.

Paula admits that with high interest rates and customers wary about how much they spend business can be tough these days.

Her will to succeed makes it all worthwhile, and working in a business where she still gets “a kick out what I have on offer” certainly helps.

To assist in her sales Paula regularly attends the local markets where her colourful and unusual display attracts new customers.
